Job title: Production Manager
Salary: £45k - £55k
Location: Dungannon
Key Responsibilities
Our client, a well-established company in the food production industry, is seeking a Production Manager to oversee and optimise their production operations. Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring adherence to the company’s values, policies, and procedures.
- Managing day-to-day production activities to deliver high-quality products on time and within budget.
- Driving improvements using Continuous Improvement methodologies to boost efficiency and maintain quality standards.
- Achieving and exceeding key performance indicators (KPIs) in productivity, waste reduction, quality, and cost management.
- Enforcing strict time and temperature controls to maintain product quality and prevent mishandling.
- Leading, motivating, and managing the production team to meet and exceed operational goals.
- Implementing job rotation and delegation while creating staff rotas at least 1-2 weeks in advance.
- Managing temporary staffing levels to meet production schedules effectively.
- Maintaining a clean and safe production environment by enforcing a "clean as you go" policy.
- Conducting regular team meetings to communicate updates and address performance metrics.
- Monitoring packing performance and driving daily improvements to achieve optimal results.
- Ensuring all production equipment is maintained, serviced, and in good working order.
- Encouraging the team to report any damages, faults, or operational issues with equipment.
- Identifying training needs, building team capabilities, and maintaining a skills matrix.
- Ensuring health and safety compliance, addressing issues appropriately, and reporting accidents or near-misses in line with UK legislation.
What We’re Looking For
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in food production (essential).
- At least 1 year of experience in a production management role (essential).
- Possess strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
- Are highly organised with excellent time management skills, capable of planning and delegating tasks effectively.
- Demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- Have strong communication skills to liaise with internal teams and resolve production issues promptly.
- Are flexible and adaptable, with the ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Hold a good understanding of health and safety regulations and food safety standards.
- Are IT proficient, with the ability to use production planning and performance monitoring tools.
