Quality Assurance Team Leader / Fresh Produce / Cambs

£35k

Are you an experienced fresh produce or food Quality Assurance professional looking for your next step? As a Quality Assurance Team Leader, you'll play a key role in ensuring product quality, food safety, and compliance with customer specifications.

The Role:

As QA Team Leader, you'll report to the Technical Manager, leading a high-performance QA team and ensuring operational excellence across all areas of food safety, quality, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure product quality & compliance - Work within the Quality Management System (QMS) to maintain food safety, legality, and customer requirements.
Lead internal audits - Conduct GMP, Glass, Hygiene, and other audits to ensure compliance, drive improvements, and follow up on non-conformances.
Champion food safety culture - Promote a strong Food Safety & Quality Culture across the business.
Manage testing & traceability - Oversee pesticide and microbiological testing, conduct mock recalls, and ensure robust traceability systems.
Data-driven decision making - Collate and analyse KPI data to identify trends and drive continuous improvement.
Customer complaint resolution - Investigate complaints, non-conformances, and implement corrective actions.
Mentor & develop the QA team - Provide training, coaching, and performance management to ensure consistency and accuracy.
Ensure audit readiness - Maintain high-quality standards, ensuring the site is always prepared for internal and external audits.

What We're Looking For:

Experience: Minimum 1 year in a QA role within fresh produce (2+ years desirable).
Qualifications: HACCP Level 1 (Level 2 preferred), Internal Auditor certification.
Skills: Strong attention to detail, numeracy, and problem-solving abilities.
Computer Literacy: Basic proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Navision (advanced skills desirable).
Leadership: Ability to mentor, coach, and develop a high-performing team.
