About the Development Technologist job

Reporting to the NPD Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the NPD department, managing projects, and ensuring the team’s workload is balanced and efficient. Your primary goal will be to develop innovative products that meet customer needs and can be seamlessly scaled for factory production, ensuring the business remains a leader in its sector, overseeing products from concept to launch.

Key tasks

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the NPD department, ensuring smooth running and efficiency.
• Manage and provide regular updates on all NPD projects to the NPD Manager; support the Sales Team with customer presentations and develop new product samples.
• Develop recipes and reformulate existing products, collaborating with Sales & Marketing to stay ahead of market trends and competition.
• Handle costing sheets for new products, liaise with suppliers for new ingredient insights, and manage factory trials, ensuring all documentation is completed pre and post-trial.

About You

• The successful candidate shall have a minimum of 3 years’ experience within NPD to excel within this role as well as a supportive food degree.
• Knowledge of factory capabilities, food hygiene and critical path.
• You should have a true passion for food innovation and awareness of insights, trends and competitors.

The Development Technologist job (ref:8852) is paying up to £35,000 according to your experience.

The site is in Newton Abbot, and I commutable from Torquay, Paignton, Exeter, Plymouth, Dartmouth and surrounding towns (Devon).

The working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4.30pm with flexibility due to factory trials.
