At David Wood Foods, we have over 20 years’ experience in the bakery business, and if one thing is clear about our company it’s that we’re passionate about baking.

We currently produce a range of quality frozen 'bake off' and craft bakery products encompassing Savoury Pastry, Sweet Pastry, Bread, Morning Goods and Confectionary products from our cutting-edge bakeries around the UK.

Due to growth within the team, a vacancy has arisen for an Engineering Supervisor based at our Spalding site.

Main Duties

  • Supervise a team of engineers and technicians, providing guidance and support in their daily tasks
  • Assign, train and develop the engineers
  • Oversee engineering projects from conception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets
  • Conduct regular meetings with team members to discuss project progress, address any challenges, and provide feedback
  • Perform root cause analysis on product failures or performance issues and implement corrective actions
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in engineering technology
  • Identify and share best practice and contribute towards raising awareness, improving performance and transitioning to a pro-active engineering culture
  • Proactively complete routine tasks
  • Assist/Co-ordinate and complete Planned Preventative Maintenance, ensuring all works are carried out to the highest standards and maximise machine efficiencies
  • Assist with Mechanical/Electrical maintenance across equipment such as: Packing machinery, Conveyors, Processing Machinery.
  • Be responsible for all engineering functions in the absence of Engineering Manager
  • Liaise with Site Manager/Shift Manager to discuss/rectify the major issues on site

Key Skills

  • Must have experience within a maintenance engineering/supervisory position
  • Some examples of background experience in Food Manufacturing
  • Must have some form of exposure to high volume production environment
  • Good hands-on engineer that can work independently, with a well-rounded background
  • Must have an engineering qualification (i.e. BTEC,HND,ONC,NVQ or CITY & GUILDS)
  • Good Knowledge of GMP’s and HACCP standards.
  • The role is shift based, working 4on 4off 12 hour shifts.
