Business Development Manager - Foodservice Sector (FMCG)

  • Annual Salary: £45000 - £65000 (DoE) + Bonus
  • Location: Buckinghamshire (Field-based with frequent travel) - can be based anywhere in UK
  • Job Type: Full-time, Permanent




Reed Food & FMCG have partnered with a fantastic business specialising in sourcing and procuring a diverse range of cost-effective and innovative raw materials, ingredients, and finished products for the food and drink industry. They are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Business Development Manager to contribute to their continued growth and success in the foodservice sector.



You'll need to have experience from a similar role and have worked with Mediterranean or Deli style products, think cured meats, preserved lemons, pickles, pesto, sauces, dips and more.



Day-to-day of the role:
  • Deliver sales delicatessen-type, food2go products, and other foodservice ingredients to national and independent wholesalers.
  • Achieve annual growth expectations while monitoring discounting and gross margin performance.
  • Conduct regular face-to-face meetings with customers to strengthen relationships and uncover opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate and timely data input across all platforms.
  • Provide accurate and actionable sales forecasts to senior management.
  • Manage and develop existing accounts by analysing historical and future activities to unlock increased value.
  • Use data analytics to identify buying patterns and trends.
  • Proactively pursue growth opportunities within competitor accounts.
  • Represent the company at marketing and public relations events, including exhibitions and trade shows.
  • Share market feedback to inform and guide business strategy.
  • Build relationships with decision-makers using industry-appropriate language and insights.




Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven success in driving opportunities through the sales pipeline to close, consistently meeting or exceeding growth targets.
  • Strong understanding of the company's products, services, and customer needs.
  • Exceptional negotiation and persuasion abilities.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage a dynamic schedule and prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Familiarity with food safety protocols, supply chain processes, or relevant quality standards.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Sales or Account Management qualifications are advantageous.
  • Valid UK driving license.
